Club Policies

Newark Canoe Club is affiliated to British Canoeing (BC) and is Club Mark Certified. Club Mark Standards require clubs to have in place policies & procedures that ensure the safe operation of the Club activities and the consistent performance of its administration.

It is essential that all club members be familiar with Club Policies and act in accordance with them when required. Canoeing is an adventurous sport and the safety of members and visitors lies at the heart of what we do. These policies ensure that everyone can operate safely within the Club and when participating in Club activities, whether on the water or not.

The Club policies are underpinned by the Club Constitution, which sets out the purpose of the Club and its activities

Club Operating Procedures and General Safety
The Newark Club Handbook brings together all of the safety polices and the routine operation of the Club, including its security, together in one document. It underpins the Duty of Care incumbent on the Club and its members and identifies the individuals within the Club that members should contact when in doubt.
The document includes:
  • Operating & Safety Procedures
  • Club Emergency Procedures
  • Codes of Conduct
  • Child and Vulnerable Adult Policy
  • Rules for the Use of Thurlby Lake
  • Management of Club Open Sessions
Please take the time to familiarise yourself with these important documents and if you have any questions contact the Chairman
